Obituary of George "Guv" Wallace

George “Guv” Wallace, 66 of Clifton Park, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2014 while in Virginia Beach, VA. Born in Hudson, NY, he was the son of the late George E. and Beulah Wallace. He was a 1965 graduate of Ockawamic Central School and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from SUNY Albany. He was also a member of the TXO fraternity. Guv was a professional secondary school educator in the Cohoes’ City School System for 30 years. Guv was an avid Yankees fan and recorded precious moments and memories with his photography skills. He was a 44 year member of the Racing City Chorus and Barbershop Harmony Society. He served as the chorus vice president of Marketing and Public Relations. He especially enjoyed singing in choral competitions throughout the United States and entertained the public in concerts, parades, at First Nights in Saratoga and delivered many singing Valentines in a quartet. He was the beloved husband of Carol for 40 years, father of Adam Wallace and brother Gary (Mary) Wallace. He is also survived by his mother in law: Lillian Shyptycki, his sisters and brothers in law: Susanne Charos, Janet (Rae) Johnson, Mary (Gary) Wallace and Joel (Lynn) Shyptycki. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Ryan, Matthew, Jennifer, Karyn, Kristen, Ashley, Heather, Jaclyn, Cristina and great niece and nephews: Jonathan, Eamon, Parker, Josephine and Colton. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 pm at the Catricala Funeral Home Inc., 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park. A service will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday at 10 am. Burial will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Glenville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Racing City Chorus of Saratoga: P.O. Box 713, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
