Please share a memory of Mei-Kuan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mei-Kuan Wang Mitchell (麥王美冠), 57, of Halfmoon, New York, passed away Monday afternoon (January 12, 2015) at her home, surrounded by family members. Her passing ended a two-year battle with cancer. Mei was born on June 14, 1957, in Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C., the daughter of the late Ping-Huang Wang (王炳煌). She is also predeceased by her infant sister, Mei-Hua Wang (王美華). Mei was an active, faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a young woman, she served as a full-time voluntary missionary in the Taiwan Kaohsiung Mission. She has held various other callings in the church. She was a devoted wife and mother, sister and friend. A family history enthusiast, she traced her family back many generations, including some lines to the 1300s. She submitted these names for proxy temple ordinances to be performed. Mei was sealed for time and eternity (married) to her husband, Tom Mitchell (麥文浩), in the Seattle Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on March 19, 1982. Survivors include: her husband, Tom Mitchell (麥文浩); two sons, Thomas Mitchell (麥文彥) and wife Jessica (麥慧潔) and Michael Mitchell (麥文傑) and wife, Shengge (常晟舸); her mother, Pi-Yu Pai Wang (王白璧玉); four sisters, Michelle Wall (龍王麗珠) and husband, Ron (龍順昌), Sandy Lee (李王麗卿) and husband, John (李炯德), Joan Wang (王素芬), Julie Chen (陳王素鶯) and husband, Dennis (陳廷芳); one brother, I-Ming Wang (王一明) and wife, Tina (王劉瑋珽); one granddaughter, Ellie Mitchell (麥慧平); and one grandson, Caleb Mitchell (麥道明). Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 14 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 52 Blue Barns Road, Rexford, New York 12148, with a visitation preceding the service from 9:00 to 10:40 AM. Bishop Brett Brimhall will be officiating. Her place of rest will be at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, Virginia. Donations may be made in her memory to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints General Missionary Fund at: www.ldsphilanthropies.org/missionary.html. This fund was very special to Mei, as it provided the means for her to serve a full-time mission for the church, one of her most cherished experiences in her life.
